Craig Killick appointed Ambassador for Basingstoke

Craig Killick - Ambassador For BasingstokeThe Escape Managing Director, Craig Killick, was today appointed an Ambassador for Basingstoke as part of the Destination Basingstoke incentive.

At a packed launch event earlier today at Hampshire Court Hotel, he joined 28 other local businessmen and women, dignitaries and sports stars to help promote the town and what it has to offer.

“Our business started in Basingstoke in 1997 and as we have grown, so has our reputation. I am delighted to be involved with a project like this where I have something to offer and will work hard to make a difference where I can.” commented Craig.

Destination Basingstoke is a local not-for-profit organisation that is designed to improve the reputation of the town and what it has to offer as well as encourage inward investment into facilities.

“If you think about it, many towns have a similar perception issue. Some have turned it around - look at Milton Keynes. It won’t happen overnight but it’s great to see our local council helping to develop an organisation to start the process.”

“Basingstoke suffers from a legacy reputation and the town that most people think is here is a thing from the eighties. When I see the facts about this borough in black and white I am amazed that the world in general - including Basingstoke residents - have not noticed that Basingstoke is actually a great town - to do business and also to live.”

Craig was initially invited to be part of the Destination Basingstoke organisation after The Escape were involved in the design and development of the Destination Basingstoke website earlier in 2009.
